An aspirant for Katsina central senatorial district on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina state, Hajiya Amina Lawal Rafin-Dadi, has disclosed that women have a lot to offer in politics but have not been given the desired opportunity.
She said women should be given more opportunity to actively participate in politics not only as voters but also as candidates.
Speaking to newsmen in Katsina, Rafin-Dadi added that women as caregivers ought to have been given more consideration in politics taking into consideration their vast experience in human development.
She said her contest is purely an attempt to positively change the lives of women in the senatorial district through effective representations that will yield positive policies for Women Empowerment initiatives.
“It is time for pay back. Therefore, as a woman with vast experience, I believe I have what it’s takes to uplift women from preventable hardship. If elected, I would establish a viable Women Economic Empowerment scheme, that will provide a sustainable empowerment to the women,” she said.
She explained that for a sustainable democracy in the state and Nigeria as a whole, women should be given adequate consideration to equally participate in elective positions.
