A cross-section of Nigerian youths across ethnic groups in the country, yesterday vowed to change the status quo within the political settings ahead of the 2027 general elections and beyond.
The youths, operating under the aegis of National Youth Stakeholders’ Forum, at a meeting in Abuja, explained that they were seriously concerned about the unity and cohesion of the country.
Daily Trust on Sunday reports that the youths were drawn from National Youth Council of Nigeria; Odua People’s Congress (OPC); Ijaw Youth Council (IYC); National Youth Parliaments and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide.
Other include Congress of Arewa Youth for Peace and Equity; United Hope for the North and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS); South-South Youth for Good Governance and Grass Root Mobilization as well as Northern Youth Ambassador among others.
The forum of national youth leaders of political parties in Nigeria, representatives of ethnic nationalities and young parliamentarians caucus of the National Assembly were also in attendance.
Speaking during the meeting, the chairman of the group, Muhammad Auwal Musa, said they would remain united and committed to empowering other youths and ensure that every youth’s voice is heard.
