Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested 21 students of Ogioma Public Secondary School over an alleged attack on Osemwende Public Secondary School in Edo State.

Daily Trust reports that eight of the arrested students were remanded at a Correctional Centre by the court, while 13 others were released on bail.

The command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, in a statement, said the students, aged between 14 and 17, were arrested following an alleged attack on the school, located at Oghoghibi, off the Benin–Sapele Road, Benin City.

He said the police received intelligence that the students allegedly stormed the school in a convoy of motorcycles to carry out a violent attack and were arrested while others escaped.

He said four knives and a chain were recovered from the suspects.

According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had earlier circulated a threat voice note, boasting of plans to “stage a war,” burn down the school, and harm students and staff—a threat they attempted to carry out before being contained by the police.

Yamu said the suspects were arraigned in court, where eight of them were remanded while 13 were released on bail and scheduled to appear on November 28, 2025, for hearing.

He urged parents and guardians to pay closer attention to the activities and associations of their children, both within and outside school environments.
