The Gwallaga Mosque Committee on Orphans and Vulnerable Children of
the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Bauchi state
chapter has offered scholarship to17 orphans while four others were
enrolled at skills acquisition centre.

Secretary of the Committee, Alhaji Usamatu Mohammed disclosed this in
an interview with journalists during the formal launching of the
scholarship programme at the Gwallaga Mosque in Bauchi.

He said that the scholarship will cover the children’s education from
primary to secondary schools respectively.

He added that a monthly stipend would be given to their guardians for
their upkeep while working equipment and transportation money would be
provided to those engaged in skills acquisition training.

Mohammed said that the committee optimistic that the assistance would
bring succor to the beneficiaries and their families.

The secretary assured some philanthropists would sponsor other orphans
with a view to reducing the burden of their education.

He urged well-meaning individuals and philanthropists to come to the
aid of orphans in the society.

"We have to do something for these orphans. They need our care to get
sense of belonging in the society. We must assist them shape their
lives so that they could have a brighter future," he said.

In his remark, a District Head, Alhaji Nura Adamu Jumba, urged the
beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity given to them and pay
attention to their studies.

He reminded them that education is the bedrock of human and societal
development so it is their responsibilities to look after themselves
while their guardians are there to guide and provide them with the
necessary assistance and guidance.

Jumba therefore advise the guardians to give all the care and love
that will give the orphans hope to live and become relevant in the
society.
