The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old female suspected arms trafficker and recovered 481 rounds of live ammunition.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ramhan Nansel, the arrest was the result of a well-coordinated operation conducted across several key local government areas.
Acting on credible intelligence, Nansel said the police intercepted the suspect, Fatima Salisu, a native of Funtua in Katsina State, at the Azuba area of Lafia.
She was allegedly transporting the ammunition through Keana and Doma LGAs, to deliver to criminal elements in Katsina.
Nansel said Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima J. Mohammed, ordered the deployment of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, which executed the arrest with precision.
Recovered from the suspect were 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
