It could be recalled that over 60 passengers were abducted when the terrorists attacked the train conveying them to Kaduna.

Daily Trust reports that some of the passengers regained freedom in batches after ransom payment which sources put at over N2 billion.

Tukur Mamu, the publisher of Kaduna-based Desert Herald Newspaper, who had been negotiating with the terrorists, was arrested a few days ago by the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly aiding and abetting terrorism.

Mohammed Sabiu Barau whose younger brother, a corps member, is still in captivity told Daily Trust that they had left everything in God’s hand.

“We are in trauma every day but, as Muslims, we are optimistic about the future. We are still praying for Allah’s intervention. Every day we are hoping to see him return home but nothing has been heard from him for now.

“But what we heard recently was that the committee set up by the government to look at the situation was doing something about it, so we are hoping for the best,” he simply said.
