The VC, NTNU, Professor Huseyin Sert, who disclosed this when he led the Olympiads on a courtesy call to the Supervising  Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, noted that the competition is aimed at promoting science education among the young people across the globe to meet the challenges of advanced technology, which is a development towards a greater nation.
According to him, five science subjects namely Biology, Chemistry, Computer (Informatics), Physics and Mathematics will be tested upon, saying that the exercise is a major instrument to train students in Engineering, Medicine, Laboratory Science, Computer Science, Architecture, Quantity Survey, Oil and Gas and other science related courses.
He said the competition will also avail the students to improve their talents and to further their career as scientists and an avenue to compare the curricular and educational tendencies in science education within the ISO member countries which could assist enhance science education at national levels.
Responding, the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, assured of the ministry’s readiness to continue to partner with the NTNU for the advancement of education in the country and called on others to emulate the NTNU crusade of advancing knowledge across the globe.
