A 25-year-old-man, Sunday John, has been dragged before a chief magistrate court in Ondo town, Ondo State, for allegedly beating his mother, Mrs Vegenia John, with a stick, causing her bodily harm and occasioning her to slide into a state of coma.

John admitted committing the offence.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to two other charges of threatening to injure one Ismailia Adedeji with a knife and conducting himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by holding a dangerous weapon to fight in a public place.

The defendant is facing a three-count charge of assault, threat to life and acting in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace.

John was said to have committed the offences on August 1, 2019, at about 8am at No. 6, Bolorunduro Street, Surulere, Ondo town, Ondo State.

Police prosecutor, Mr Abiodun Adebiyi, applied for a date to enable him study the case file.
