A twenty-five -year-old student, Isaih Idowu, on Tuesday pleaded guilty to stealing a Toyota Camry car and other property valued at N4 million.

Idowu made the confession during his arraignment before Mrs S.A. Adesina of an Iyaganku Chief Magistrate Court in Ibadan.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the three-count charge of unlawful break in, willful vandalisation and theft of property instituted against him.

Earlier, the counsel to the accused, Emmanuel Ayoola, had told the court that the petitioner had written a letter withdrawing from the case.

The magistrate invited the petitioner, Babatunde Salako, asking if the letter truly emanated from him which he confirmed.

The magistrate, consequently, struck out the matter.

The police prosecutor, Insp. Sikiru Opaleye, had informed the court that the defendant committed the crime on Aug. 14 at about 1.00 pm, at Odo Ona-Kekere, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Opaleye further explained that Idowu broke into the home of  Mr Babatunde Salako to steal a Toyota Camry car, N500,000 cash, a Plasma TV, a Del laptop, mobile phone,   a Nokia tablet and a DVD player all valued at N4 million.

The prosecutor stated that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 411, 383 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. ii Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
