2,534 Plateau farmers to access N2.1bn loans

The Plateau State chapter of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has said that it will release N2,128,125,000 to its members for maize and soya beans farming this season.

The association made the disclosure in Jos in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Mr. John Goting Jiler, Secretary, Pam Dung Bot and Legal Adviser, Bar. Micah Adaji.

The statement said the association has the approval of about N2.1bn from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), under the Anchor Borrowers’ programme and that about 2,534 members would benefit from it.

It added that the association has engaged an agronomist to guide its members on best agronomic practices and that it was working towards collaborative partnership with agencies such as Plateau State Microfinance and SME Development Agency (PLASMEDA) towards agripreneurship development, access to finance and other best practices in agriculture.
