Maiduguri zonal coordinator of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Umar Mohammed Kalgo, said both states have had five flights as at last Thursday; Borno, 3, and Yobe, 2, flights with the third being processed at the time of filing in of this report. Max Airline is the carrier for the two states.

Kalfo said the zone had a total of 6,286 pilgrims comprising 3, 286 from Borno and 3,000 from Yobe and that with the progress so far, 3,804 pilgrims were awaiting airlift. He noted that the airlift was being alternated between the two states, promising that everyone would be airlifted in good time.

Our correspondent who monitored preparations for the inaugural flights reports that everything went on smoothly as members of the Ameerul hajj teams from both states, those of NAHCON as well as the pilgrims’ welfare boards were seen pilgrims and handing them their travel documents and basic travelling allowances in good time without rancour.
