The Borno State government on Monday resettled a total of 500 households of internally displaced persons in Marte LGA of the state after more than six years of exile.

The State Deputy Governor, Hon. Umar Kadafur, while addressing the returnees in new Marte town in the northern part of the state on Tuesday, appealed to them to cooperate with security personnel by giving information of any suspicious movement or person they noticed in the area.

Kadafur was received by the Brigade Commander 22 BDE Marte, Brig-Gen Y. Ibrahim, before proceeding to the Chad basin quarters which was renovated for the returnees.

He flagged off the distribution of food and non-food items to 500 households numbering 2,870 returnees.

Kadafur informed them that the state government was aware of their problems and would continue to assist them to recover fully with their normal business activities.
