A popular Nigerian music artiste, Innocent (2Face) Idibia and nine other artistes have held a concert in Lokoja to advocate for peaceful election ahead of the November 16 governorship poll in Kogi.

Idibia, who spoke yesterday in Lokoja while performing at the peace concert which attracted over 5,000 spectators, urged youths in the state to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner during the election and avoid being used as agents of violence by politicians.

Daily Trust reports that the peace concert under the ‘Vote Not Fight, Election No Be War’ campaign was organised by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in partnership with Participation Initiative for Behavioural Change in Development (PIBCID), USAID, UKAID and 2Baba Foundation.

Acting Country Director of NDI Raymond Esebagbon advised the youths to shun all acts of violence, hate speech and fake news before, during and after the election.

INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kogi, Prof James Apam, said youths would be actively involved in the election and urged them to do the right thing that would make the electoral process peaceful.

Acting Executive Director of PIBCID Halima Sadiq urged youths to promote peaceful and non-violent election rather than presenting themselves as tools for perpetrating violence.
