Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has launched the second phase of measles immunisation with the aim to reduce the prevalence of the disease in children under the age of five.

Gov. Sule flagged off the exercise at Kana/Apau in Kokona Local Government Area and commissioned an ultra-modern primary healthcare facility constructed through the Save One Million Lives initiative, supported by the World Bank, aimed at strengthening the capacity, as well as improving the provision of quality healthcare in the state.

While launching the second dose of the measles immunisation, Gov. Sule said the exercise was meant to address inadequacies from the first dose of the measles vaccine towards conferring optimal protection against the disease for children in their second year.

The governor commended the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the state Ministry of Health, the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NSPHDA), Nasarawa State Emergency Routine Maintenance, Routine Immunisation Coordination Centre and all development partners for their continued support, commitment and collaboration towards strengthening routine maintenance and other services.

Highlight of the event was the donation of an ambulance by the family of Alhaji Abubakar Kana to the newly commissioned primary healthcare facility in Kana/Apau.
