3 arraigned for allegedly assaulting road safety officers

Three men, Tobiloba Awe, Anthony Ogiewa, and Michael Omosebi, on Tuesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly assaulting road safety officers.

The defendants – Awe, 26; Ogiewa, 26; and Omosebi, 27 – whose addresses were not provided, were charged with conspiracy and assault, to which they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Owolabi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on November 16, at about 6pm, at the J. Allen Junction, Dugbe area of Ibadan.

Owolabi alleged that the defendants assaulted three road safety officers, Olorunrimitan Akinbuwa, Sunday Ogundana, and Abiola Olayode, while they were performing their lawful duties.

He said the offences contravened Sections 355 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Gladys Oladele, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until December 22 for hearing. (NAN)
