3 arraigned for attacking police inspector in Lagos

The police in Lagos State, on Monday, dragged three persons before an Ejigbo magistrates’ court for attacking a police officer, Inspector Akwa, at Igando.

The accused, Favour Liberty (33), Promise Sunday (23) and Adaeze Ndubuisi (20), were said to have descended on the inspector who they claimed they thought was a criminal around 8pm on September 11, 2022, at Igando Bus Stop while he was carrying out his lawful duty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, who said the victim sustained severe injuries as a result of the beating he received, asked the court to give a date for hearing since the accused pleaded not guilty to enable the police to prove that they actually committed the offence.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Dosumu, granted them bail and adjourned the case.
