Three persons, Akinola Kolawole, 46, Ogunniyi Ogunleye Sunday, 45, and Olademeji, 55, have been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti magistrate court for an alleged land grab and selling some portions of the land.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade, told the court yesterday that the defendants and others still at large, within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District, were involved in a land grab.

He alleged that the defendants unlawfully sold some portions of the land without the authority of the head of the family, Chief Oluyemi Abidakun, and other principal members of the Idolofin family.

Inspector Okunade said the offence committed is punishable under Section 9 (2) of the Ekiti State property protection (Anti-land grabbing) Law 2019.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Stephen Ademuwagun, urged the court to grant bail to the defendants, adding that they would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Mr A.O. Oyebanji, granted bail of N50,000 each, one surety each who must be a Chief in the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.

He adjourned the case until August 28, 2021, for hearing.
