Three persons have been arraigned in an Ado-Ekiti magistrate court over alleged stealing and malicious damage.

The suspects, Gabriel Habila, 25, Maharzu Suraju, 21, and Yusuf Sauteed, 20, were arraigned yesterday for allegedly stealing iron rod valued N15,000 property of Awe Taiwo,  and for breaking into the house of Barrister Obafemi Adewale and attempting to steal his LG Plasma T.V 42” valued at N180,000.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Bamikole Olasunkanmi, told the court yesterday that the defendants conspired to commit the act.

Inspector Olasunkanmi noted that the offence is contrary and punishable under Section 516(A), 383, 509,451, 427 of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Vol.1 Laws of Ekiti State Nigeria 2012.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister O.J. Abiola, urged the court to grant his clients bail, saying they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Abdulhamid Lawal, granted bail of N100,000 each to the defendants, with two sureties who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case until September 9, 2021, for hearing.
