The police in Sokoto have arrested three suspected cattle rustlers and recovered 300 cows as well as 700 sheep.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Sokoto State command, Supol Ibrahim Abaras, disclosed this to Daily Trust yesterday while commenting on the activities of the rustlers.

Abaras said the livestock belong to some villagers in Raba and Goronyo local government areas of Sokoto.

He said the police had received complaints from the affected villagers that rustlers attacked them and carted away their cattle.

“Three days ago, we recovered 300 cows and 700 sheep and we have arrested three suspects,” he stated.

The PPRO disclosed that the livestock were recovered at Shinkafi area of Zamfara State.

“We have also recovered additional cows today (yesterday),” he added.

He however said they were yet to ascertain the number recovered yesterday as it was still being counted as at the time of this report.
