3 charged with possession of locally made pistol in Ekiti

The police in Ekiti State have arraigned three men, Idoko Sunday (45), Olayiwola Olaide (30) and Gabriel Sunday (37) at the Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over an alleged conspiracy to commit felony.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants, on May 10 at about 10am at Iropora-Ekiti, had in their possession one locally made pistol without licence.

Inspector Oriyomi said the defendants committed an offence punishable under Section 421 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021, and under Section 27(b)(ii)(v) of the Firearms Act Cap F28 Laws of the Federation, 2004.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister F. O. Falade, urged the court to grant his clients bail, the request Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted in the sum of N25,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till July 8, for hearing.
