3 charged with stealing of rice in Ekiti

The police in Ekiti State have arraigned three defendants, Ajanaku Lekan (24), Akingbade Sodiq (19) and Ajalume Seun (24) at the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court over stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants and others at large on May 27 at about 2pm at Ilawe-Ekiti, stole rice valued at N50,000 belonging to one Oladipo Tope.

Inspector Oriyomi said the offences were punishable under Sections 421, 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant his clients bail, a request which Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted in the sum of N20,000 each with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till July 17, for hearing.
