Armed invaders have reportedly killed seven people in two communities of Gwer West LGA, Benue State.
However, the state’s police spokeswoman, SP Sewuese Anene, told newsmen that only three people were killed, noting that the victims were her cousins.
Locals said the attacks happened on Sunday in Tse Gamber community and another settlement along the Naka-Agagbe road, both in Gwer West LGA.
The villagers said that while four people were killed on Sunday morning in Tse Gamber in Sengev Ward, three others were later killed by evening of the same day at Camp Nagi in Mbachohon Ward.

Terna Ibaah Jacob, an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp Manager in Agagbe, said some of the deceased had been displaced from their community and were living either in camps or the host community.
Jacob particularly pointed out that one Gamber Awuhe (45) was killed by the armed invaders on Sunday evening when he went fishing.
However, the police spokeswoman, SP Catherine Anene, who confirmed only three people dead, said, “That is my village (Tse Gamber). Three of my cousins were killed; that is the total num-ber.”
