Three men face death penalty for allegedly using gun to rob their victims of laptops, phones, cash and other valuables.
Vitalis Tersee, Soughter Chia and Zaki Daniel were arraigned before an FCT High Court in Maitama yesterday by the FCT Commissioner of Police.
They face a five-count charge bordering on armed robbery and receiving stolen properties, an offence punishable with death penalty according to the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act.
Tersee, Chia and others at large were alleged to have on the 16th of March, 2017 at Lugbe Zone 6, Airport Road Abuja committed the offence of armed robbery when they broke into the house of one Emmanuel Omebiye while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons.
They allegedly robbed him of two laptops, one iPhone, one Blackberry phone, two modem, one headphone, some rock CDs, one bangle, five necklaces, one wristwatch, one power band and one rechargeable radio.
They were also alleged to have at robbed one Dinah Omebiye of one Samsung Galaxy X6 phone, one Nokia phone, two torches and N10,000. The two were also alleged have on the same day broke into the house of one Oginma Opemi and robbed him and his sister, Siyaka Opemi of two laptops, 11 mobile phones, and the cash sum of N45,000.
The third defendant, Daniel, was alleged to have committed the offence of receiving stolen goods. While the three pleaded not guilty to the charge read to them. Prosecution counsel, Barrister Patrick Ogele, then pleaded with the court to order that they be remanded in Kuje prison and it was granted by the court.
