Governors Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Kano), Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina), and Muhammad Abubakar (Bauchi) and emirs of Jema’a, Borgu, Machina, Dukku and Potiskum were among the many VIPs at the palace of the Emir of Kano that witnessed the wedding of Hafsatu Sanusi.
Hafsatu is daughter of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi ll.
Popularly called Siddiqah, she was handed over in marriage to Alhaji Abubakar Umar Kurfi by the Ciroman Kano, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, who stood for the bride.
The bride’s family took N100,000 cash in brideprice from Munnir Kurfi, who stood for the groom.
The Chief Imam of Kano, Professor Sani Zaharaddeen, presided over the marriage around 10am at the emir’s palace.
Shortly after the families of the groom arrived at the palace, the emir asked the chief Imam of Kano to commence the processes of the wedding fatiha, Daily Trust observed.
Other dignitaries at the occasion included Minister of Internal Affairs General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), former FCT Minister Bala Muhammad, National President of the Nigerian Bar Association A.B Mahmud (SAN), Alhaji Sabi’u Bako, Alhaji Baba Buhari Daura and Alhaji Uba Leader.
Security was beefed up within and around the palace as police.
Hisbah and KAROTA officials were stationed at strategic places around the palace to ensure safety of lives and properties.
