Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspected cultists—identified as Nelson Mudiagha, Efe Nyore, and Ebube Ifeanyi—for allegedly preparing to launch attacks on residents of Warri and its environs.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the police received intelligence that members of a notorious cult group were assembling to attack innocent residents within the Warri area.

Following the tip-off, operatives of the Quick Response Squad, led by SP Achem Collins, conducted a sting operation and raided a building on Okwagbe Street, Igbudu, Warri, where the unlawful gathering was taking place.

Edafe noted that upon sighting the police, members of the group fled the scene in a desperate attempt to evade arrest. However, Nelson Mudiagha, Efe Nyore, and Ebube Ifeanyi were apprehended.

He said a search of the premises led to the recovery of a cut-to-size locally fabricated double-barrel gun and 17 live cartridges, which were carefully concealed within the building.

According to Edafe, the suspects have reportedly confessed to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity, adding that investigation is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members and ensure they are brought to justice.
