Men of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) have arrested three illegal tax collectors for harassing two drivers who were conveying palliatives from Adamawa State to Anambra State en route Aliade in Gwer East LGA of Benue State.
The acting Chairman of BIRS, Emmanuel Agema, on Monday, told members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Benue State that the incident occurred a few days ago.
Agema explained that some trucks conveying palliatives from Adamawa State to Anambra State were intercepted in Aliade during which the illegal tax collectors beat up two of the drivers, smashed the windscreens of the vehicles and snatched N200,000 from them.

He noted that, “We swung into action when we were alerted and arrested three people in connection with the crime.’’
