The police in Ogun State have arrested three men for allegedly vandalising an MTN telecommunication mast in Atan Ota area of Ado Ota LGA of the state.
The three suspects, Kehinde Yahaya, 36, Akeem Adetona, 36 and Taofeek Olalere, 36, were reportedly arrested following a distress call made to the Atan Ota division at about 12 midnight by vigilante men at Onigbogbo Phase II that a group of thieves had broken into the MTN mast and were carting away 12 solar power panels valued at N14 million.
Three of the hoodlums were arrested while others escaped into a nearby bush.
The spokesman of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said the 12 solar panels were recovered from the suspects as well as their operational Volkswagen bus.
He said the commissioner of police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) for investigation, adding that he equally directed that a serious manhunt be launched to nab the fleeing members of the gang to bring them to justice.
