Disagreement over grazing rights between farmers and herders has led to a bloody clash in Kwara State.
According to the spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kwara State, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the clash later degenerated to free use of cutlasses and other weapons.
The incident happened in Alapa, Asa Local Government Area of the state, yesterday after a farmer, Alaparo Tunde, and his two sons: Saheed and Taofeek from Alaparo Village confronted a Fulani herder, Haruna Adamu, who was allegedly grazing his cattle on their cassava farm.
Afolabi said the herder and the farmer’s two sons were seriously injured during the clash and were later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
He added that investigations were ongoing to unravel the immediate and remote cause of the incident.
