Three persons have been confirmed dead while many, including a yet to be identified police sergeant were said to have sustained severe injuries when hoodlums raided the base of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in the Ilesha Baruba area of Kwara State

The deceased persons were said to be among those who attacked the base.

They allegedly died during a shootout with security operatives who were deployed to defend the base.

It was also learnt that the hoodlums, who were allegedly contracted by suspected smugglers, also attempted to set the palace of the Emir of Baruba and the divisional police headquarters on fire.

The coordinator, Joint Border Operations Drill, section 3, Ilorin, Comptroller Olugboyega Peters, who confirmed the unfortunate incident, said the injured policeman was in a stable condition in an undisclosed hospital.
