At least, three people have been killed and some women raped by alleged armed invaders in two council wards of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Villagers said armed invaders who laid siege to some communities in Nyiev and Mbabai council wards of Guma in the past few days had made life miserable for the inhabitants.
The locals said the three persons were killed in Kwashe village and another community in Mbabai ward in the attacks, which happened between Monday and Thursday.
A witness, Blessing Ortseega, said that though she survived the attack on Kwashe village, her elder sister and mother were not as fortunate as they were both killed.
“My mother could not run so the attackers caught up with her and killed her. They even went ahead to mutilate her body,” Ortseega said.
Guma LGA Security Adviser, Christopher Waku, Friday confirmed the killings of the three people by suspected armed invaders to our correspondent on telephone.
Waku said that some women who were on their way to farm were also raped and two of them abducted.
He said though the abducted persons have been released, the attack continued the same day in the same village by the same invaders during which one person was killed.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Benue command, SP Catherine Anene, also confirmed the attacks and killing of two persons.
Anene however said she did not receive the report about the rape of some victims of the attacks.
