Three men have been arrested for being in possession of counterfeit Dettol products worth over N17 million.

The counterfeit Dettol products and 13 bags of substances suspected to be cannabis, said to be worth N6.5 million, were yesterday destroyed on the orders of the Federal High Court, Kano.

Kano State police spokesman, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, who led a team of policemen to destroy the items, warned dealers and those involved in hard drugs to desist forthwith, saying the command would not hesitate to deal with them ruthlessly. 

He said over 1296 cartons of the fake Dettol soap and liquid disinfectants were smuggled into the state from Pakistan and that they were confiscated in various shops at the popular Sabon Gari Market.

Mjia further explained that the cannabis were impounded in various criminal hideouts in the metropolis between January and February, adding that 16 suspects were so far being prosecuted in connection with the impounded illicit drugs.
