Suspected gunmen have kidnapped three members of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
In a terse message sent to the church’s WhatsApp platform, the three worshippers were seized while returning from a bible study session at the Kasemola area inside the Ogbese axis of the LGA on Monday.
Daily Trust obtained a copy of the text, which read, “Good morning, beloved. Kindly pray along with us. Three of our members were kidnapped yesterday after bible study at Kasemola inside the Ogbese axis.

“We are seeking divine intervention to secure the release of our kidnapped members. The case has been reported to the police and Amotekuna corps in the state,” it read.
Police spokesman in the state, Olusola Ayanlade, confirmed the fresh case of abduction in a phone chat, saying men of the command are now tracking the movement of the kidnappers in the bush.
Mr Ayanlade, however, could not immediately confirm the number of the abducted worshippers.
“I can confirm to you that there is an issue of kidnapping, but I cannot confirm the number of the victims for now,” he said.
Meanwhile, a member of the church who spoke in confidence, said the abductors are demanding N5 million ransom.
He said the church members had also gone spiritual while also making an attempt to raise the ransom among the congregation.
“We have called for a prayer meeting, and talks are already going on in raising funds for the ransom among parish members in the LGA. We have also sent the disturbing message to our regional pastors for notification,” he told our reporter. Ondo State has been in the spotlight of insecurity with the frequent cases of abduction by armed men, terrorising the residents of the state.
The state has recorded no fewer than 10 cases of abduction in the past three months.
