3 remanded over alleged murder in Ekiti

An Ekiti Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of three men—Ogenyi Paul (25), Oladimeji Ridean (23), and Ayomide Olumide (23)—at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre over allegations of conspiracy and murder.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, informed the court that the defendants are reasonably suspected to have murdered one individual, identified simply as John.

He said the offence, which occurred on December 25, 2025, within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District, is punishable under Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State (2021).

Inspector Apata urged the court to grant the remand application, noting that the original case file has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

The Magistrate, Mr. S.O. Daramola, subsequently ordered the defendants’ remand pending the receipt of legal advice from the DPP.

The case was adjourned until January 30, 2026, for mention.
