The Kwara State High Court, sitting in Ilorin, has sentenced three convicts to death for armed robbery and kidnapping.
The crimes were committed against Mr. Olubunmi Komolafe and his wife, Mrs. Adeola Morenikeji, at their farm in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Delivering judgment, Justice Funsho Lawal said the convicts—Patrick Afedia Adams, Tijani Usman, and Ahmed Muhammad—were sentenced on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, rape, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
The court heard that on June 15, 2025, at Kanjile village in the Kulende area of Ilorin, the convicts robbed the complainants and kidnapped the wife to a secluded location, where they demanded a N5 million ransom.
Justice Lawal narrated how the convicts tied up the victims and detailed the brutal nature of the assault, noting that one of the convicts, Tijani Usman, repeatedly raped the wife during the ordeal.
