The Gombe State Police Command has arrested three armed robbers said to specialise in terrorising and blocking Gombe-Dukku road and robbing travelers.

It said it also  recovered 21 herds of cattle from rustlers in the state.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Obed Mary Malum, said the suspects, Yayari Saleh, 25, of Wasandu village and Buba Ahmadu, 32, of Sarkin Fulani village of Dukku LGA and Usaini Hassan, 20, of Bojude in Kwami LGA, were arrested by police and hunters.

She said dangerous weapons such as, cutlasses and sticks which they allegedly used to perpetrate the act were also recovered from them.

She said the cattle were recovered from the rustlers through a joint operation by the police, members of vigilante groups and hunters.

Malum said the police have handed the cattle back to their owner, one Baba Jauro.

The police spokesman added that four other suspects, Auwal Ali, 20, Usman Jibrin, 18, Sani Yakubu, 21, and Al’amin Anas, 18, all of Gadan Dahiru Deba area of Gombe metropolis were also arrested.

 DSP Malum said the suspects who specialized in snatching valuables from passersby were arrested by a team of policemen following a complaint at the Pantami Police Divisional office by residents of GRA quarters.

She said three Laptop computers, a GSM handset and two ATM cards were recovered from the suspects.

She added that all the suspects have confessed to their crimes and they would be charged to court soon.
