Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested during an operational tour of Garam community, bordering Bwari Area Council of the FCT and Kaduna State, led by the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi.

Addressing newsmen, CP Sanusi said the tour covered Gidan-Dogo, Garam and Kungaba communities as part of ongoing efforts to assess and strengthen security deployment in border areas.

He explained that the arrests were made during the targeted operation, identifying the suspects as Nasiru Abdullahi, Samaila Dahiru and Bello Usman.

According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that Abdullahi and Dahiru, both from Kweri village in Kaduna State, were responsible for the abduction of one Mallam Bako from his farmland in Gushawai village on April 8, 2026.

He said the victim was taken to Kweri forest, where a ransom of N50 million was demanded before he was eventually rescued by operatives of the FCT Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

Sanusi added that further findings linked the suspects to the abduction of 20 persons in Byazhin community in Bwari Area Council.

He described the third suspect, Bello Usman, alias “Dagejo,” as a notorious informant and logistics supplier who had been on the Command’s watchlist for two years.

“Investigations revealed that he was actively coordinating with bandits from Kaduna State to support criminal operations within the FCT,” the police commissioner said.

He disclosed that one AK-47 rifle, a magazine and 12 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspect.
