Three teenage prostitutes have been arrested by operatives of Benue State Environmental Sanitation Authority (BENSESA) over indecent act.

Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday that the girls were caught along with a man who was having sex with one of their colleagues while they watched.

The General Manager of BENSESA, Solomon Onah, had stumbled on them while on routine inspection of shops, houses and other public places at Awe Street in Wurukum, a suburb of Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Onah, who commented on the arrest shortly after the inspection carried out on Monday in line with the BENSESA Act, 2005, expressed disbelief at what the girls were doing instead of concentrating on their education.

He told journalists that, “This is one case too many. In the inspection process, it was discovered that these teenage girls, about four of them, were seen with a man who was naked and making love with one of the girls, while the other three were watching.

“Not just that, this indecent act was taking place in the afternoon. Everything about the house structure flouts the environmental sanitation laws of Benue State because there is no toilet attached to it.”

Onah added that the suspects would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for proper action even as he warned youths engaging in such social vices to desist for their own good.

He also noted that the man caught in the act would have to answer questions when NAPTIP takes on him, pointing out also that the age difference between the man and the girls indicated that he took advantage of them. 

Items recovered from the ransacked building include bucket containing faeces, condoms, rubber buckets and alcoholic drinks amongst others.

Meanwhile, the arrested man simply known as Israel claimed he was just relaxing with his girlfriend when the authorities clamp down on them.

On the other hand, one of the teenage girls identified as Susan,  alleged that financial hardship pushed her into sex hawking.

The proprietor of the shanty apartment, who gave his name as, Ogbonna, who was also arrested explained that he operates the place as a hotel where he also sold alcohol.

“Anybody can do a hotel. Hotel is a hotel whether it is a batcher hotel. If it is not good, close it and not to arrest people,” Ogbonna said.
