At least three persons have been buried under the rubble of a collapsed two-storey building in Lagos State.
The building located at Otta-Ona junction, Ikorodu, collapsed around 3pm on Tuesday.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said it had rescued nine persons.
LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident, saying that the agency received a distress alert around 2.02 pm.

He stated that upon arrival at the incident scene around 2.40pm, officials of the agency discovered that a two-storey building undergoing construction had collapsed, with three victims trapped under the debris.
He explained that the cause of the collapse had yet to be ascertained.
“No death has been recorded so far as a result of the incident. LASEMA Tiger and Lion Response Teams commenced search and rescue efforts immediately on arrival and safety measures had since been activated with the operational area cordoned-off at the incident scene.
“The agency’s heavy-duty equipment, ‘the excavator’, has been activated and deployed to aid in the quick rescue of victims trapped beneath the collapsed structure. Search and rescue is still ongoing,” he added.
