Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted three women, whose identities are yet to be ascertained, in Edo State.

The victims were reportedly snatched on February 27 at the Igbira Camp area of Auchi, the administrative headquarters of the Etsako West Local Government Area.

It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the victims’ residence at night and forced them into the nearby bush.

A source close to the family said the suspected kidnappers have opened negotiations with family members, initially demanding a N40 million ransom for their release.

The source further revealed that the kidnappers have since reduced the demand to N30 million while negotiations continue. It was also noted that two of the victims are sisters.

The spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident.

“Yes, it is confirmed. Bush combing and technical investigations have already commenced to ensure the safe release of the victims,” she stated.

Ikoedem, however, did not comment on the reported ransom negotiations.
