A three-year-old girl (names withheld) allegedly raped by a 50-year-old man has died.

The man, Abdullahi Sani alias Mai’aya of Jabiri area, Funtua LGA of Katsina State, has since been arrested and police said he has confessed to the crime.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of Katsina Police Command, DSP Gambo Isah, said the accused was arrested on October 12, 2017 at about 3:00pm after committing the offence.

He said the suspect lured the little girl into an uncompleted building and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.  

The little girl was rushed to Funtua General Hospital but died the following day, Oct 13, at about 10:30hrs due to complications from the injuries she sustained from the incident, he said.

“The suspect confessed to the crime while investigation is still ongoing in the case,” he added.
