A field of 30 of Nigeria’s finest professional golfers, alongside invited players from across Africa, will headline the 2025 Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic, as organisers unveil a prize purse of over N30 million.

The three-day tournament, scheduled for Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28 in Lagos, will be played on both the Par 3 course and the Par 72 Championship Lakowe Lakes Golf Course. Amateur members and guest players will also join the action, teeing off alongside the professionals in the final two rounds.

According to Femi Olagbenro, Golf Manager at Lakowe Lakes Golf Estate, this year’s edition is designed to raise the bar.

“The Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic is themed The Emerald Invitational, and it underscores our commitment to hosting world-class events and positioning our facility as a hub for golf development. We are excited to bring together some of the best golfers in the country to compete at the highest level.”

The Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic is part of the broader “Escape to the Green” (ETTG) initiative, a luxury hospitality experience that coincides this year with Nigeria’s Independence anniversary weekend.

The event will be complemented by a rich lineup of entertainment and leisure activities across the weekend with “Verse and Vibes Night,” an evening of poetry and live music, followed by the “Poolside Pulse Party” headlined by DJ Nana.

On Saturday, September 27, the spotlight shifts to the “Owambe Royale Emerald Gala,” a celebration of African opulence featuring performances by Johnny Drille, Folagade Banks, Layi Wasabi, IBQUAKE, OB Nelson, Serenade Jazz Band, and Lilian Yeri Dance World, with popular comedian Kie Kie as host.

Beyond the stage, guests will enjoy a variety of curated leisure activities throughout the weekend, including pontoon boat rides, sip-and-paint sessions, pottery and candle-making workshops, caricature drawing, archery, and tennis—all designed to ensure a memorable and immersive experience for every attendee.

“We are thrilled to be hosting this event during Nigeria’s Independence weekend, and we invite golf enthusiasts and music lovers alike to come and experience the best of what Lakowe Lakes Golf Estate has to offer,” Olagbenro added.
