300 goat farmers trained in Oyo

The Bank of Agriculture (BOA) has trained 300 goat and sheep farmers in Oyo with the view to improving livestock farming, the zonal manager of the bank, Mrs. Idiat Folorunsho, has said.

She said the training was part of the efforts of the Federal Government to ensuring that goats are part of the export resources.

Folorunsho, who spoke at a one-day workshop organised to train 300 goat and sheep farmers, said the primary objective of the training was to empower farmers and encourage them.

She said, “We want to encourage the goat, sheep, ram farmers association to invest more in agriculture and produce more.” 

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Prince Oyewunmi, said the state government has approved  250 acres of land for the farmers in the state.

The commissioner, who was represented by the deputy director, Livestock Services, Mrs Bukola Akinloye, said the state government was always ready to assist farmers.
