The combined team of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), military, police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have raided hot spots for drug peddlers in Anambra state.
During the raid, the team, which included the Nigeria Immigration Service and Prisons, arrested 35 people for drug related offences in various parts of Anambra state.
According to the state Commander of NDLEA, Sule Momodu, the suspects were arrested during a two-day joint raid on eight hot spots across the state by the team.
The raided spots include the Nnewi hundred Foot Road, Ihiala Motor Park, Aba park, Obosi, Okija, Okpoko, Owerri Park, Lagos park and Benin park.
According to Momodu, exhibits recovered from them include 6.3432 kilogrammes of Cannabis sativa, 9.4 grammes of Cocaine and 4.3 grammes of Heroine.
Momodu said the joint raid has come to stay as the agency and its sister agencies would from time to time clamp down on drug peddlers to ensure that the state is free of illicit drugs especially in the parks.
He also disclosed that those arrested would be screened and the innocent ones would be set free, while those with questions would be charged to court.
