The Director General of the Edo State Migration Agency (EDMA), Mr. Lucky Agazuma, has disclosed that no fewer than 35 human traffickers were sentenced to various terms in correctional centers across the state in 2025.
According to Agazuma, the agency also successfully rescued 393 victims of human trafficking within the same period.
“We secured the conviction of 35 traffickers and rescued 393 victims within the period under review,” he stated.
Providing a breakdown of the rescued individuals, the Director General noted that the group comprised 365 females, 20 children, and eight males. H
e reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to eliminating human trafficking in the state, asserting that EDMA will continue to use every legal means available to stamp out the illicit trade.
