379,245 PVCs uncollected ahead of Saturday’s poll — INEC

As Saturday’s off-cycle governorship election in Edo State approaches, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 379,245 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), representing 14.43%, remain uncollected.
Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Despite a three-day extension granted by INEC following a stakeholders’ meeting, aimed at ensuring a successful election, a significant number of PVCs are still uncollected.
The total number of registered voters in Edo State stands at 2,629,025. Of these, 2,249,780 (85.57%) have collected their PVCs, while 379,245 (14.43%) are still pending collection as of the end of the extended period on Sunday, 16th September 2024.

In preparation for the election, INEC has released data on PVC collection by Polling Unit (PU) across the 4,519 PUs in the state.
Olumekun said the detailed breakdown of PVCs collected and those uncollected per unit has been uploaded to INEC’s website for the benefit of political parties, candidates, and the public.
