A total of 39 entries out of 461 entries from 71 countries have been selected for screening for the 2019 edition of the Lagos International Festival of Animation, (LIFANIMA).

According to the organisers, animators from Nigeria, South Africa, United States of America, Iran, Kenya, Uganda and Cameroon, were selected for various works in 3D and 2D animation, animation commercial and visual effects.

The Festival scheduled to hold at Freedom Park, Lagos on Thursday, June 6 will feature screening of selected works, award presentation, networking and entertainment.

Femi Odugbemi, FTA, award-winning documentary filmmaker and director of the Multichoice Talent Factory is scheduled as keynote speaker at the festival’s seminar. Uche Nwuka, Group Head, Creative Industry Group, Bank of Industry is expected as guest speaker for the fiesta.

According to the Festival Director, Muyiwa Kayode, “LIFANIMA provides a platform for animators to interact with other stakeholders for optimum value creation and rapid growth of the animation industry. It will also serve as a forum for projecting the incredible possibilities and potential of animation to transform the movie industry across Africa.”

The event will attract local and foreign animators, filmmakers, investors, financial institutions, advertising agencies, musical video producers and other affiliated stakeholders as well as the general public.

Some of the selected animators include, Chris Bonani, Esther Kemi, Omoyefe Majoroh, Alagoa Makeni, Segun Shokunbi, Richard Oboh, Olumide Adeosun and Ian Fox, among others.
