The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned four persons before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over allegations of conspiracy and stealing.
The defendants are Ayomide Pelumi (18), Salihu Ibrahim (19), Garba Musa (27), and Isah Shaibu (22).
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that Pelumi and Ibrahim stole MTN registration machines valued at N12,000,000—property of the telecommunications company—on Jan. 22 at about 7:30 pm in Ado-Ekiti.
Inspector Oriyomi further alleged that Musa and Shaibu conspired at 9:30 pm that same day to unlawfully receive the stolen machines from Pelumi and Ibrahim.
The prosecutor stated that the offences are punishable under Sections 421, 302(1)(a), and 343 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant his clients bail, assuring the court that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until March 2 for hearing.
