4 company drivers arrested for stealing 222,000 bags of fertilizer

Four company drivers have been arrested for allegedly stealing 222,000 bags of fertilizer valued at N6 million.  

The suspects were identified as Mohammed Alhassan, 25; Usman Musa, 25; Adamu Muhammed, 27; and Adebayo Jamiu, 24. 

All of the drivers were working for Cryslad Company, Agege, and they reside at Owonikoko Street, Ifako-Ijaye, Lagos. 

The four drivers were arrested after the company’s audit report indicted them. They were later handed over to the police. 

At the conclusion of the investigation, all three suspects were hauled up before Chief Magistrate T. O. Shomade sitting in Ikeja forconspiracy and stealing.

 The prosecutor, Inspector Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed sometime in September 2017 at Cryslad Avenue, off Oba Ogunji Road, Agege.

Akeem alleged that the accused stole the bags of fertilizer from the company’s warehouse.

 “It was when the auditors came to audit the company’s books that it was discovered that 222,000 bags of fertilizer were missing,” he said.  

The four men pleaded not guilty to the charges. 

In his ruling, Shomade granted the accused a bail of N2m each with two sureties each in like sum. He then adjourned the case until November 6, 2017 for mention.
