4 dead, 16 injured in Bauchi road crash

A road crash in Jalam town, Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has claimed the lives of four people and left sixteen others injured.

The crash occurred in Dutsin Hari, a village on the Jalam to Lanzai Road.

Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the fatalities and the number of injuries.

According to witnesses, the driver of the vehicle, which was overloaded with passengers heading to Jalam, lost control while traveling at high speed. The vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a bush, resulting in the fatalities and injuries.

Of the sixteen injured, nine were admitted to Jalam Town Hospital, five were taken to the General Hospital in Dambam and two were transported to Azare for treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Ai’shatu Salihu, 25; Furera Haladu, 25; Zuwaira Dandija, 19; and Lahala Muhammed, 41. All four victims were women.

Police spokesperson Wakil reported that the vehicle was carrying more than 30 passengers. The driver, reportedly speeding, lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.
