Four persons died on Sunday night in a road accident involving a Toyota Corolla car and a flatbed Mack trailer in the Obada-Oko area of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Daily Trust gathered that the accident occurred about 7.36pm when the trailer was making a u- turn and the speeding car rammed into it.
The spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in Abeokuta yesterday.
Akinbiyi said eight persons, comprising seven adults and a female child, were involved in the accident, with four of them dead on the spot, while two others sustained injuries.
“A flatbed trailer with no registration number was trying to make a u-turn inbound Abeokuta at Obada Oko without indicating when the Toyota Corolla marked EM 866 APP, which was on top speed from Lagos, rammed into it. The two persons in the trailer – the driver and the motor boy – ran away before our rescue team arrived,” he said.
Akinbiyi added that the corpses of the dead and the injured were taken to the General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta.
